Story from Harve:
"Had the farm behind the Stony Beach Cemetery. One day was cutting sheav es with a long sleeved jacket on. While pushing the sheaves into the cutti ng block, his sleeve button got caught and pulled his hand into the cutti ng box, cutting it off. When the button got cut off, he was able to pull b ack and get free. He got to Moose Jaw for surgery to repair what was le ft of his wrist. In the meantime, someone had gathered up the severed part s. They were placed in a box and buried under a tree. Once home, Jack w as having phantom pain and complaining that the hand was so cramped. Se nt by Elizabeth Ann, Harve Doan's dad and Bertha Wallace dug up the han d. Elizabeth washed the hand, dried it and placed it open into a padded b ox and the children buried it again. The complaints stopped. A while lat er Jack was clawing at the bandages ans saying how itchy his palm was. Ba ck out the children went and dug up the hand again. Sure enough, there we re a couple of pieces of straw under the hand. Again it was washed and pla ced into the box and reburied. End of problems. Harve's dad told him th is story 2 or 3 times when Harve was a young man. 40 years later, Bertha W allace told Harve the very same story.
