Ottawa Citizen - May 3, 1910 - Fatality In Brick Works - Lyon Wilson Accidentally Killed at Billing's Bridge - Was Working on Pug Mill When Machine Started - Deceased Comes From Cantley and Leaves Family
Lyon Wilson of Cantley, Quebec was killed this morning at the Billing's Bridge Brick Works. He was caught in the knives of a big 'pug' mill, used for mixing clay, and died almost instantly.
The mill was not working at the time, as it was undergoing some repairs in the part farthest from the knives. Wilson was connecting an iron pipe to the machine near the knives and was not noticed by the other workmen. They wished to run the machine for a few revolutions before completing the repairs and turned on the power. Wilson shouted at them to stop, but although the power was immediately turned off, the mill ran so easily without a load of clay in it that it did not stop at once, and Wilson's body was badly mangled.
Deceased was 35 years of age, and leaves a wife and one child. He formerly lived in Ottawa, and worked then in the Ottawa Car Works. An inquest will be conducted into the circumstances of the accident.
Ottawa Citizen - May 6, 1910 - Wilson Inquest Tonight

The accident took place on Monday at the plant of Peerless Brick and Tile Company at Billing's Bridge, when the unfortunate man was cut to pieces in the puddling machine. The jury was at the scene of the accident all day.
