GLADY FREEMAN GANS, NATIVE OF HELENA, DIES SUNDAY MORNING
Gladys Freeman Gans, 60, wife of David S. Gans of 402 Dearborn and a native of Helena, died Sunday morning at St. Peter's hospital, where she had been a patient since November 22nd.
Born March 18, 1895, in Helena, she was the daughter of George O. and Ollie M. Freeman, and granddaughter of Joshua Ricker, early day miner, who was killed in the '70s at the age of 35 when thrown from a horse. He was wearing a money belt heavy with gold dust at the time.
Ms. Gans was educated in Helena schools and was for many years a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist.
Survivors include her husband; son, Joe F. Gans of Helena; two grandchildren, Dick and Elizabeth Gans; two sisters, Mrs. A.L. Brayman of East Helena and Mrs. C.A. Whipple of Stockston, Calif.; a brother, O. Ricker Freeman of Cambridge, Mass.; two aunts, Mrs. Lala Ricker and Mrs. June Ide, both of Helena, and a niece, Mrs. Irving Singer of Helena.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at Retz chapel with Norman Winestine officiating. Pallbearers will be George Stadler, George Grossberg, Martin Gebosky, Percy Doty, John J. Morris and P.W. Singer. Internment will be in Forestvale Cemetery. Retz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
