Was visiting Turkey Read on the station platform at Pense in 1908, on his way to Panama. Got convinced to stay at Pense. Worked for John Read at Stony Beach for nearly a year before his marriage.
Lived/farmed 2 or 3 farms in the Two Rivers District. Moved into Bethune in the summer of 1948.
